Home Cooking: 2005 Annual

The next cook book I’m my cook through is home cooking’s 2005 Recipe annual. Its been wonderful to cook through. I have found so many new recipes to add to my collection. I’m not done with it yet i’m not even halfway done cooking all the ones that sounded good to me. But i want to share the ones thus far that my family is loving. There has been Potato & Squash Bake, Chocolate filled Pastry puff, ohhhhh!!!! French apple pie & Cinnamon roll pudding!!!! (those two are by far are top 2, and missing photos 🙂 ) We found a new recipe for apple wraps that we like. We have also made a stab at Putter butter bread pudding (which turned out decent i was told but not a big hit)

There are two recipes in particular i want to share for those of you moms with kiddos. one would be fun to make with them the other was just plain good!!!

The first Soft Pretzels (pg144)

Ingredients:

2 (16oz) loaves frozen bread dough (or package of frozen dinner-roll dough balls, thawed)

1 egg white (slightly beaten)

1 teaspoon water

Coarse salt

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 and prep cookie sheet.

Seperate and roll bread into 24 balls. Roll each ball into a rope 14 1/2 inches long. Have the children plan and design pretzel shapes. (letters and numbers)

Place pretzels 1in apart on cookie sheet combine egg white and water, brush onto pretzels. sprinkle with salt. Place a shallow pan filled with 1inch boiling water on bottom rack of oven; place cookie sheet with pretzels on the rack above the pan of water & bake for 20min or until golden brown.

Come back tomorrow for the crunch applesauce bars…..

  1. One of the best recipes I have tried so far. Thank you so much for sharing with us this recipe as I would surely make this one again in the weekend as it is a hit with our family. Went really well with a hot cup of coffee made from my new gaggia espresso machine at home. Kudos!
