Its the 31st and time to wrap up the Pretty and Practical before February’s Pinterest Party. I have a couple projects to finish up tonight when my hubby gets home such as….

Hanging some little mailboxes i got

kid's mailbox. Wanted this so bad as a kid. totally gonna do it for my kids!

and in the next week or so we are gonna make this guy (Our saturdays flew by us!)

Love it!!! I want it!!!

and i need to go pick up a cupboard organizer for some of the snacky things we buy, an idea inspired by this…

i like those containers the potatoes are in

and i’m hoping i can get him to do this to a book i have…

Make your very own iPhone Charging Dock that will take the place of that ugly white cord lying across your nightstand.

We’ll see if i make it that far tonight! And if so i’ll update you on my final Score but as of now this is where i stand…

Yarn/pipe cleaner letter, A height ruler for the boys, and my Perpetual Calender. I Also finished my 2012 Bucket List (Jar on the left, more on it later!)

I also made an “I love you because” board and the little frame on the bottom is a Chore chart for Harvey with photos of each chore using Instax film.

I also bought baskets to organize my fridge plus a lazy susan for it also.

all that gives me a total of : 19 points for those projects (most of them were free! wahoo!)

So total pretty and practical points: 44

*** Update, Nothing got finished last night as hoped, Final poibts : 44****

Pretty and Practical

Its January time to jump on all those things we WANT to do this year. Like be nicer, eat healthier, be more balanced, and of course complete projects! With all that ahead of her a sweet friend decided she was going to use the momentum of January and complete some desired tasks in her home. To keep herself going she decided to make a game of it in the month of January and as invited her readers to join her. I’m participating and am no inviting you to join in as well! It’s called Pretty Vs. Practical and this is how it works…

If I accomplish a task that pretties up the house I get a point. +1.
If I accomplish a task that practicals up the home I get a point +1.
If I do a task that both pretties and practicals up the house I get +3.

If I do a task that does either task, and it costs zero money I get +1.

So get up and get going…. BUT before you do here is my first project….
Rain gutter shelves!!!
I was trying to figure out a way to hang the Alphabet letters we got from Oliver’s baby shower a few months ago. I want to get the ones we have up on the wall but wanted to be able to slowly finish off the alphabet and not rush out and get all 26 letters. So i decided shelves would be best, plus it would make it easier as some of these are rather fragile and I’m scared to hang them. So i sent my hubby to the store and he picked up 1 10ft rain gutter, which the cut in half, and some brakets and in 15 minutes we had 2 shelves hung on the wall and my alphabet was displayed.
According the game that is 3 points for me. However i’ve decided that since the task has been waiting for like 5 months to get done i deserve an extra point for finally completing it. That’s fair right? 😉
So what projects are on your list this month?

Laundry Detergent

I promise i’m still around, i’ve been busy sewing things sold in my shop, things for friends and getting my family ready four our big move (which mind you will be more crafting)! But in the midst of everything we ran out of laundry detergent. But it turned out to be perfect timing because just as we ran out i found a recipe here at Soule Mama to make your own; and so we did!

We got our supplies:

Borax, Castile Soap, Baking Soda, & Washing Soda

We grated our soap:

We measured it all out and mixed the 3 ingredients:

And just like that we were done and ready to wash our Cloth diapers! speaking of that guess i should go do a load! Happy Laundry day!
